The interactive nature of the class afforded me insights into variousissues as dealt with by institutions and the best practices. ME surpassedmy expectations
âOnyinye was an excellent facilitator at the masterclass in Negotiating LMA Agreements and Transaction Advisory for senior counsel, which I attended sometime in April 2024. She had an excellent grasp of the subject matter, a fact which played out in the versatility, clarity, and ease with which she was able to explain, from the rudiments to the very complex issues surrounding this topic. Onyinye provided me with great and useful insights which will guide my LMA reviews and negotiations in transactions going forward.â
The class was very relatable in terms of my career field of corporate commercial practice. The most useful part of this course for me was that it encompassed and summarized the model of treating the salient points in Corporate Commercial Law practice
For someone who had done a bit of work on the subject matter, I honestly did not expect much from the class. But these expectations changed after I took the first assessment, as it exposed me to some other areas that I had not yet considered. I think this exposure should be my theme for the masterclass, especially from the facilitator. The way he explained the concepts showed deep levels of understanding and experience to match. I cannot wait to have the recordings and materials so I can listen all over again. It was a great experience!â
âThe Negotiating the LMA Facility Agreement and Equity Transaction Advisory Master âwas explanatory, and the facilitators were willing to always assist. I understood the power of negotiation and the need to maintain a stance in favour of your client when negotiating a loan. Also, conducting the requisite due diligence is important.â
The Due Diligence for Financing Transactions Masterclass was very practical and actionable. I enjoyed that it empowered me with an adaptable framework that can be utilised across various types of due diligence exercises. I love that Mary makes every training relatable. We were able to anonymise and dissect transactions (both past and present) and discuss how to approach goal-oriented due diligence exercises and how that may differ when it is a vendor due diligence or otherwise. It was also helpful to understand how due diligence for a debt financing varied from due diligence for an equity financing. My key takeaways: every due diligence exercise is different, and you must understand the goal of the due diligence; recommendations must not only be legal but also commercially practical; you must always understand the transaction.
I liked the fact that the facilitators of the Introduction to Banking and Finance Masterclass were experienced practitioners, as they frequently interjected their presentations with case studies from transactions that they have been involved in. I am likely to recommend this course, because even though I work closely with the facilitators and have some insight into the perspective shared in their presentation, I still learnt a lot, gained fresh insights and further depth of understanding. Therefore, I believe it would be equally beneficial to those similarly experienced and even more useful to new entrants to the practice. My key takeaways - effective and efficient structuring of securities packages for transactions requires knowledge of the law as well as familiarity with the procedure and practice of the relevant industry.
âThe facilitator was very engaging. What I found most useful was gaining knowledge about the various types of securities available for use to secure loans.â
I found the sessions very informative and I think any lawyer whoâs interested in finance should leverage the opportunity.
Course materials were world class and the facilitator was very knowledgeable on the subjects
