Protecting your private information is our priority. This Privacy Policy governs data collection and usage of the Learning Management System (“LMS”) provided by ME Academy. By accessing or using the LMS, you consent to the data practices described in this policy and in our Terms of Service. If you do not agree to any part of this Privacy Policy, then you must desist from accessing the Services.
- Definitions
2.1. API: Application Programming Interface are a set of protocols, tools, and definitions for building software and applications. They include related documentation, source code, SDKs (Software Development Kits), executable applications, and other materials provided by the API partner.
2.2. Cookies: Small text files placed on your device by a website, which store information about your preferences and actions.
2.3. LMS: This Learning Management System platform provided by ME Academy for the delivery of online courses, training programmes, and educational content focused on the practice of corporate commercial law.
2.4. Geolocation Data: Information about your physical location, typically collected from your IP address or GPS-enabled devices.
2.5. Personal Data: Any information relating to an identifiable person, which may include but is not limited to: name, email, identification numbers, IP address, geolocation, etc. It is information that can be used alone or with other data to identify, contact, or locate an individual.
2.6. Processing of Personal Data: Any operation or set of operations performed on personal data, such as collection, storage, modification, sharing, analysis, or deletion.
2.7. Service: Products and services provided by ME Academy on the Learning Management System such as online courses, training programmes and educational content focused on the practice of corporate commercial law.
2.8. Third Party: Any entity or individual outside of ME Academy who may have access to personal data for specific purposes, such as analytics, marketing, customer service, billing for Services, or legal compliance.
2.9. Tracking Technologies: Tools such as pixels, cookies and other tracking mechanisms used to collect and analyse user behaviour and interaction with the LMS platform, often for marketing and improvement of services.
2.10. User: Any individual or entity that accesses, registers for, or otherwise uses the LMS, including legal professionals, lawyers, trainees, and law firms.
- Collection of your Personal Data
ME Academy may collect personally identifiable information, such as, but not limited to, name, physical address, telephone number and IP address. The information that we collect and store often depends on the type of Service that you use. For example, when you subscribe to a course, we collect and maintain your account information such as login name, password, email address and contact information.
If you contact our customer service team, we may retain relevant communication records, such as emails, phone calls, or chat transcripts, for purposes of improving service quality and resolving any issues you raise. If your access to the LMS is sponsored by your employer or another organisation, we may collect and store information about your affiliation with the sponsoring entity for account management and reporting purposes. ME Academy will retain user information in compliance with applicable legal and operational requirements, but we will honour requests to delete personal data submitted by account holders, as outlined in this Privacy Policy.
Information about your computer hardware and software may be automatically collected by ME Academy. This information can include: your IP address, browser type, domain names, access times, operating system, cookie information, referring website addresses, and Internet Service Provider. ME Academy also collects geolocation information based on visitors’ IP addresses. This information is used by ME Academy for the operation of the service, to maintain quality of the service, and to provide general statistics regarding use of the Services. In order to better understand how users use its site and to improve its services, ME Academy may also collect information about your use of our Site, such as pages visited, links clicked, text entered, and mouse movements.

In such cases, the third party’s use of your personal information is governed by their privacy policy and not ME Academy’s privacy policy.
ME Academy may disclose personal information when we believe it is required to comply with the law (such as, a lawful subpoena, warrant or court order); to enforce or apply this Privacy Policy or our other policies or agreements; to initiate, render, bill, and collect for amounts owed to us; to protect our or our users’ rights, property or safety; to protect our users from fraudulent, abusive, or unlawful use of the Services; or if we believe that an emergency involving the danger of death or serious physical injury to any person requires or justifies disclosure of personal information.
In certain situations, ME Academy provides an API licence to business partners in order for them to provide certain services to ME Academy via their own websites or applications. In these situations, we may collect, store, and disclose to the relevant API partner your personal data to enable the API partner to offer our Services and/or its services to you, or for purposes of sending you marketing communications as permitted under applicable law. We also collect, store and use personal information gathered via the API business relationship for purposes of monitoring and improving our Services.

- Transfer of Personal Data

- Handling Data Breaches

- affected users will be promptly notified of the breach and provided details on its nature and scope.
- ME Academy will take immediate action to secure systems and mitigate potential harm.
- A report will be filed with relevant regulatory authorities in compliance with the Nigerian Data Protection Regulation (NDPR).
ME Academy will not be responsible for any personal data breach which occurs as a result of:
- an event which is beyond the control of ME Academy;
- an act or threats of terrorism;
- an act of God (such as, but not limited to fires, explosions, earthquakes, drought, tidal waves and floods) which compromises our data protection measures;
- any hostilities (whether war be declared or not), invasion, act of foreign enemies, mobilisation, requisition, or embargo;
- rebellion, revolution, insurrection, or military or usurped power, or civil war which compromises our data protection measures;
- the transfer of your personal data to a third party on your instructions; and
- the use of your personal data by a third party designated by you.
